Shop Local! | Goods We Gathered...

4/21/2020 |
Kerri Fukui

We've been spending a lot of time inside lately (we hope you are, too), and we miss this city of ours. We miss our baristas and bartenders, our brunch servers and shop workers. Truth is, every one of us could use a little TLC these days, and we'd like to offer you a way to help the local spots that need it and treat yourself at the very same time. Below you'll find 6 CHC design projects with 6 very different "vibes." Select the space that resonates best with you (or pick a few--no judgment). And below the photos, you'll find the (all locally sourced!) goods that we expertly, ever-so-lovingly curated for you based on your selection. See something you like? Click the linked items to make your online purchase! Easy!* Best of all, the local spots listed below offer either delivery or curbside pickup, so you can support our community while continuing to physically steer clear of it.

Folks, it seems that our homes are our safe harbors for the foreseeable future, so we invite you to make yours as comfortable and comforting as possible while keeping this little local economy of ours afloat (read all about why shopping local matters especially for SLC right here). In the meantime, know that we love you. Know that we miss you. And know that together we'll get through this.

stay safe, stay inside, shop local.

*Some items are in limited quantity or even one-of-a-kind, so move quickly to score what you'd like!

1) ECLECTIC + CHUNKY

Maryland #201

The Maryland is one of our all-time favorite condo buildings in the city. The exterior and common spaces of this Victorian beauty are buttoned-up and call to a time of tobacco, propriety, and pocket watches, but this particular unit defies all preconceived notions of stuffiness. The design here is bold, eclectic, and entirely unafraid of mixing punchy statements with ornate filigree. Our designers shied not away from color (and even animal print!), but the space is held down by heavy materials and rich hues. In short: this is a curious one. We suggest you grab a glass of something fizzy and stay awhile.

2. MRS. CAMPOS DINER MUG, CAMPOS COFFEE ROASTERY

3. RUBY RUBBER TREE, ORCHID DYNASTY

4. THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GREY, KING’S ENGLISH BOOKSHOP

5. MSSR. BLANCHY CANDLE, THE STOCKIST

6. GIFT CARD, AFGHAN KITCHEN

7. PRETTY GOOD TROPHY KEYCHAIN, CITY OF INDUSTRY

8. SAVANNA PIZZA CUTTER, THE STOCKIST

9. HOLD VASE, DARA MODERN

2) EARTHY + MODERN

SAMPSON AVE, PARK CITY

The family belonging to this home wanted a design that was both inviting and fitting of its Park City locale. The result: something between hygge and the Sundance Kid. It's light and airy but grounded in gritty, earthy elements. The modern touches are tidy, but the natural tones and butter-soft materials keep the space from ever feeling too clean. It's a bit like desert morning air, this one: the perfect blend of crisp and warm with just a hint of sagebrush on the wind. It's sure to cure what ails you.

1. AGAVE + HONEYSUCKLE CANDLE, CURRICULUM

3) LIGHT + LAYERED

The Premier

This unit in the Premier building--purchased by a few CHC agents and whipped into shape by our design team--is sort of the "French girl" of interiors (at least, whatever style magazines would have us believe equates to one). It's smart without feeling stuffy, accessorized impeccably, and effortlessly thrown together. It's the perfect shade of lipstick on a coffee cup. It's fresh-baked bread. It's bare feet in a garden. It's sublime.

1. WOOL THROW, THE STOCKIST

2. MEXICAN MOON BATH, MABO

3. CHINESE MONEY PLANT, ORCHID DYNASTY

4. WHITE NOISE, KING’S ENGLISH BOOKSHOP

5. RIPPLE TALL GLASS SET, DARA MODERN

4) CLEAN + PLAYFUL

THE MAYFLOWER

Located inside one of South Temple's historic condo buildings, this unique and playful home dances to the beat of its own drum (we suspect it's actually an 808 machine). The spaces here are clean and bright, and border on the academic in their commitment to right angles. But while there's no hair out of place in this design, there are plenty of playful touches throughout, signaling that this place never takes itself too seriously. Like an origami T-shirt, this one is practiced, patient, disciplined...and very, very fun.

1. CRASSULA BREVIFOLIA, PEAS & BEES CO.

2. HASHISH CANDLE, DARA MODERN

3. SEGO LILY PENDANT, CURRICULUM

4. INTROVERT CANDLE, THE STOCKIST

7. IT’S OKAY CARD, LAND OF SALT

8. DIPPING TABLE LAMP, DARA MODERN

5) MOODY + ORNATE

ART HOUSE PARK CITY

It's difficult to describe the tranquility that comes from a weekend stay at Art House (and, as it's listed on AirBNB, you can...soon's this is all over). There's a centuries-old wisdom, here, and the space is not without its hidden, dark corners. Whether you're lounging in the forest-hued front room or percolating some coffee in the china-filled kitchen, this one feels a bit like spending some time with your favorite old lady--you know, the one who wears teal faux fur, inspired Lou Reed for a summer, and keeps all your secrets.

1. HASAMI BLACK BOTTLE, CURRICULUM

2. SAGE + TOBACCO CANDLE, HIP & HUMBLE

3. NEVER TELL TEE, ALIBI BAR AND PLACE

4. FRANKENSTEIN, WELLER BOOK WORKS

8. REDHEAD CANDLE, THE STOCKIST

9. BRASS SCISSORS, HARVEY SKILL SHOP

6) COZY + VINTAGE

THE MARYLAND #204

The intention behind the design of this home--also located inside of South Temple's historic Maryland building--was to create the spatial equivalent of a hug. Floor to ceiling, window to wall, the rooms here are smokey, soft, and entirely soothing. Original, Victorian-era finishes frame the library (it's wallpaper), and the whole place exudes the quiet timelessness and electric wonder that comes with, we imagine, finding a hidden room behind a bookcase. This home feels like it's been around for ages and will stand for ages more...the perfect place to weather life's storms.

1. NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, KEN SANDERS RARE BOOKS

2. TELEGRAM STATIONERY, ATELIER
