We're feeling a collective pull. A pull toward health via simplicity. Health in our bodies, and health in our community. Interestingly enough, when we let go of what our bodies and souls don't need, we become more whole, more available. Consider this- if your mind and body don't have to process unnecessary toxins (think pesticides, allergens, harsh lighting, bad vibes), you're ultimately more free to create, connect, and love. In this case, LESS is MORE.
One of my favorite ways to nourish myself is with delicious food and nutritious company.
And so, to my delight, a few of us cityhome folks gathered for a meal at Contento Cafe with founder Loren Bell. Loren is a champion of healthy, delicious food, served in a beautiful environment, with a generous helping of care and community.
And does Contento Cafe SERVE!
The menu offers authentic Mexican dishes inspired by recipes passed down through generations, with an emphasis on clean ingredients. While I'm typically the diner who finds a couple of favorite dishes and sticks to those, I've gotten adventurous with Contento's menu and have yet to be disappointed. Plus, thanks to the completely gluten-free kitchen, grass-fed beef, sustainably caught fish, organic ingredients, and NO seed oils (thank you, thank you!), I leave with a happy belly every time.
Loren and his team made certain to match the exquisiteness of the cuisine to the beauty of the restaurant's interior design. I can't decide on my favorite element: the limewash textured walls and hand painted murals are in close competition with the plant gallery adorning the espresso bar. From the lighting to the music, each design choice is thoughtfully implemented for an exceptional dining experience.
As you can imagine, all of this added up to a lovely shared meal (even Loren's daughter came to join us, greeting each other with a "Hey buddy!"). We laughed, we passed plates, we asked hard questions and shared personal insights. I'm so grateful for these moments, feeding my soul and rooting me deeper into community.
When food and place are just right, we're at home no matter the location.
I hope to see you there.
