No matter your spot on the map or the time of year, it seems that the mere mention of the word "barbecue" will always incite a wealth of opinions (most of them good, and all of them focused on regional differences and why you are, decidedly, wrong). We meat-eaters love BBQ. We didn't invent it, but we've certainly embraced it, and the flavorful acronym has become nearly synonymous with bald eagles and baseball in the way of American descriptors.
Everyone characterizes great BBQ a little differently, but there's no argument as to when you've found the real deal
This is where we introduce Pat's BBQ. Locally-owned and run by Pat Barber, this is the place to which the learned meat-eaters come for slow-cooked beef brisket, pulled pork, and *sigh* burnt ends. Tucked in an out-of-the-way spot in South Salt Lake, Pat's is a roomy joint with a cozy menu, and--on weekends--live music for the hungry masses. The accolades have always come in steadily here. Stuff like "best comfort food," "best BBQ in SLC," or a cool, compliment-ridden segment on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives wherein Pat's was referred to as a Salt Lake City "gem". It's no wonder. No big surprise. It falls right off the bone and into your heart.
You want some now, right? Same.
Pat's is a great spot for lunch (as evidenced by our visit, wherein we were introduced to the wonder that is their pork nachos). You can also grab a few pals and go for dinner or rent one of the "party rooms" in their space. Or you can get some BBQ in a Box to take to your in-laws' when you head there next Tuesday for Canasta...or you can request that Pat's do a touch of on-site catering for that huge party you're planning. But we have another option, should none of those fit into your schedule just now:
JOIN US FOR OUR 5TH ANNUAL BREW + 'Q NEXT FRIDAY (THE 22nd), WHERE PAT'S WILL BE DISHING THEIR SIGNATURE, SLOW-COOKED STUFF OF DREAMS.
What'll you pay for it? For a taste of this god-given barbecue, a few drinks, and some friendship? Nothing. We just want to hang out. We assume now that you do, too.
