Find Your Space | Vol. Three

MEET MARC ANTHONY. HE FOUND HIMSELF, WE FOUND HIS SPACE.

If you’ve been following our Find Your Space ad campaign [and you’d better be], you’ve probably fallen head over heels for David, as well as Jess and Nata. They're all worth it. So, in the tradition of good things coming in threes ’n’ all [blind mice, wise men, ring circuses, et al] we present to you: Marc Anthony for Find Your Space, Vol. Three. Now prepare to get all mesmerized.

For Marc, it's about the dance...a harmony throughout his home.

Though Marc Anthony has more travels under his belt than Gulliver, at heart, he’s a fellow pavement pounder for the city of salt. Post globetrotting, he’s found himself nestled snugly into the Maryland, and to that we raise a glass of bubbly. This is a man of many hats [and as many smoking jackets], and his eclectic casa looks equal parts Bond lair and cozy Dubai bazaar. To be perfectly frank, we’re absolutely enamored with each and every [incredibly symmetrical] square inch of it. Every perfectly-placed peculiarity has its reason, every room its "family" of porcelain or specified applied art, and every musical tapestry its rhythmic coupling of objects crafted in the same materials and spirit. For Marc, it's about the dance...a harmony throughout his home that's inspired as much by The Turkish Corner [a term used describe the Victorian practice of expressing their love for eclecticism and the exotic via a room/corner decorated with Eastern motifs] as it is by the courts of Louis XV in their use of Chinoiserie. Says he, "I have always loved the union between East and West as expressed in the arts--and find that the effect of combining the Yin Yang extremes creates an effect of sublime balance within me and my guests." Sigh. You know how we feel about an intentional space. And so we chose him for our ad campaign.

The lavish reds, the dreamy blues, tapestries upon tapestries and all that gold...

While in Marc’s Maryland flat [just across the hall from Cody Derrick’s humble abode] it’s difficult to remember that one is in Salt Lake City: champagne chills in almost every nook and cranny, incense idles from room to room, 60s rock 'n' roll of the Orient wobbles perfectly from a pair of hidden speakers, and the kitchen is only discernible from an artfully hidden sink. Marc Anthony's dining room--which we oh-so-wisely chose for the final ad--is a gallery of sorts highlighting primarily Chinese cloisonné and Japanese Champleve enamel. For us, this room was absolutely bursting with rich, colorful magnetism, so it's no surprise that our subject came to life in here. It's a definite departure from our previous, bright 'n' tidy choices, and that's precisely what we loved about it. The lavish reds, the dreamy blues, tapestries upon tapestries and all that gold...we swooned.

Marc Anthony’s manor is a prime example of our credo that space shapes life [and vice versa].

While we creatively directed between noshing on exotic fruits and crudités, our talented photographer, George Oakley, snapped away. All told, we don't have a count on the photos, but it was hard not to capture some form of magic in every shot. You can see the final product at the bottom of our behind-the-scenes shoot, or in the goodly pages of the upcoming Fall issue of Utah Style & Design [grab your copy quick-like, or just become a subscriber]Marc Anthony’s manor is a prime example of our credo that space shapes life [and vice versa]. Whether you’re into clean-lined minimalism, an empire of antiquities, or a cabin filled with flannel, get with us, folks. Find yourself. Find your someone. Find cityhomeCOLLECTIVE. We’ll find your space.
