Ask any 10 Salt Lakers to list their favorite local ‘hoods in which to eat, drink, or shop and we’re willing to bet that 9th & 9th lands near the top of almost all of them. But while the locally owned spots we love were once relegated to a few tiny pockets in town, more seem to be popping up by the dozens, and these salty streets are growing more walkable by the day. Much to our economic enjoyment, development has spilled west to Central 9th and is now even expanding north, to 8th and 8th.

One of the anchors of this new little nook of shops is Vis., a gorgeous optical store inhabiting the southeast corner (once home to emiliejayne consignment shop). If you happen to be in the market for unique, handcrafted eyewear from independent designers, this is your spot. Aside from the stellar collection of specs and on-site eye exams, we were particularly drawn to the disarmingly friendly and knowledgeable service provided by owner Stephen Lundquist, a man we’re grateful had the vision (ha!) of bringing a highly curated shop like this one to our neck of the woods.

One of our very own ace real estate agents Paul Svendsen (seen here gallantly modeling some frames) helped Stephen find this coveted 8th & 8th location and tirelessly toiled through all the details of leasing a commercial space. We’re proud to have been involved with the establishment of this space, as Vis. is quickly proving itself as one of SLC’s most compelling new boutiques.

Stop on by and see for yourself.
