Locals + Culture

A few months ago, we had the pleasure of writing about this magnificent pearl on the East bench. Our friends, Rudy and Leah, had just completed an extensive renovation of the residence and had invited us over to see the fruits of their labor. We were, to say the least, awestruck. There is a dearth of Ultra Modern architecture here in SLC, especially in the outer environs where form inevitably succumbs to the presumed safety of ‘Mountain Rustic’.

the result is something truly extraordinary.

It is as if fitting in with the landscape means becoming lost to it, but this home stands boldly as an example of how the spartan purity of modern design can integrate with the organic of nature. And the result is something truly extraordinary. But back to us. It's no secret that we’ll celebrate at the drop of a hat, and after we beheld the beauty that is Rudy’s and Leah’s remodel, we demanded that we throw a party to consecrate their Place of Worship (because that’s what you do when you want to declare structures like this one sacred.) So, sit back and enjoy perusing our pics of beautiful folks feasting on fare from Taqueria 27 and marveling at the views of this grand City of Salt of ours. And you'll want to keep a close watch…you'll be seeing her again quite soon.

The Curious Heart of Salt Lake: Gilgal Gardens + Trolley Square

We recently passed the keys to a home tucked just beside one of Salt Lake’s most intriguing landmarks — a red-brick beauty resting quietly along the edge of Gilgal Gardens.
