Years ago, I helped good friends of mine, Ben and Maggie, find their first dream home together here on the south end of Liberty Wells. Initially, they hadn’t quite appreciated just how much they would fall in love with this adorable bungalow with the cute yard and an old pergola in back. It was, at first, just a house. But, over time, as they began to put down roots in the neighborhood and their mark on the house -- Ben built those bookshelves and mantle over the fireplace; they’re big Broncos fans, hence that poppin’ front door and dining room light -- it became more than that.
It became a home; it became their home.
When a windstorm knocked over the old pergola, they had a new one installed so the grapevines there could survive. And they improved the important stuff, too. Like a new roof with solar panels (paid for!). A new high efficiency furnace & a/c. New windows and a new service panel. So much did they love this home that, as their family grew (see contemplative little man on front porch), they brought on architects and engineers to see about adding a 2nd story to give them more square footage (we have the plans, if you’d like to see them).
They loved this home because it marked their beginning.
They loved it because of its perfect location (Hello! You can walk to Alchemy Coffee, to Liberty Park and to Trader Joe's all in one go). They loved it because of the amazing neighbors, and they loved it because it’s a solid, dependable home, one that held up its end of the bargain. It provided a safe space so that memories could be made and relationships deepened. And now it’s time for someone else to take care of this house on Redondo that is now for sale, for someone else to call it home.
