Basalt Day Spa | Volcanic Ensemble

July 20, 2016 | Corigan Kushma

We love us some 9th & 9th, but venture just a few blocks west, and the corner of 900 S and 400 E is quickly becoming one of our new favorite ‘hoods. In recent years (and even months), this little spot has become quite the hub for posh spaces, and a wellness + beauty mecca in its own right. Quite frankly, we’re delighted with the way this area is shaping up, and we’re pleased as punch that the goodness SLC has got is expanding west. First there was Tea Grotto, then Sequel Salon, and then–as of about 6 months ago–a little slice of zen opened up shop right above Manoli’sBasalt isa boutique day spa, and it’s a fantastically feel-good addition to the neighborhood.

it’s allowed them to cultivate a truly superb spa experience.

Upon entering the white, modern facade, glide up the dreamy staircase. You’ll land in a bright and lofty hideaway, brimming with calming scents and soothing tunes, which overlooks the newly-appointed Harvey Milk Blvd. Owners Amber DeVoge and Jasmine Percy have decades of experience (as a master esthetician and massage therapist, respectively), and it’s allowed them to cultivate a truly superb spa experience.

these gals know how to make you feel like royalty.

These ladies are no joke–whether you’re in for a massage, a facial, or slathered in mineral-rich, heated mud from the Great Salt Lake and then wrapped in herb-soaked linens (oh my god, yaaassss), these gals know how to make you feel like royalty. And, as its name suggests, each treatment incorporates a heated basalt stone massage (their signature, magical touch). Looking to take a little piece of the serenity with you? Basalt’s retail shop is fantastic, too. It’s lined with amazing local products like crystal-charged bath salts from the Great Salt Lake and custom, local jewelry (so you can snag your next birthday/housewarming/”treat yo’ self day” gift with ease), and guests can browse the local goods while sipping on complimentary (and delicious) tea from their neighbors across the road.

we left relaxed, rejuvenated, and actually glowing.

We were lucky enough to indulge in a little Basalt-style TLC, and we can happily report we were far from disappointed. These treatments are the real deal, and we left relaxed, rejuvenated, and actually glowing. Book your appointment soon, friends…because we’re likely to set up camp here.
