Last year held surprises aplenty, so we called on a few of our most-experienced real estate team members to hash out their predictions for 2021’s market in a good, old-fashioned Zoom roundtable discussion. Open to the public, our agents accepted questions from viewers and discussed potential real estate highs and lows in the coming months. Our advice? Listen in…

For the first First Fridays of 2021 we welcomed Jordan Menzel of Maple Grove Hot Springs + Retreat Center (to our Zoom lounge) to chat about community and the welcome embrace wild places. After the centuries-old soaking spot had fallen into disrepair, Jordan, along with some SLC-based partners, revived and reimagined the fully off-grid experience, tackling the rebranding, relaunch, and revival of the 45-acre riverfront hot springs. It’s an intentional collection of rental yurts, cabins, tent/van camping spots, and group experiential congregation spots that allow for community connection in an environment fostering physical and mental well-being centered around experiencing natural hot springs. Watch the video below for a tour of the grounds and more about Maple Grove’s mission…

The state of the world is different now than it was a few months (and even weeks) ago, and our community and its real estate market will not go unaffected by the great equalizer that is COVID-19. We recently invited our Instagram following to join a few of our real estate professionals for a lively chat on the state of the market and where it’s headed. (Our outlook: not so dire.) Tune in below, and be sure to follow us for more virtual discussions to come!

The relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit should be a symbiotic one. That is, both person and place ought to benefit mutually from the union. The affair is a lifelong one, and it’s that space, somewhere between human and home, with which we are so deeply enamored. It makes sense, then, that we’re so elated to partner with Radio West for HABITAT. The video series features a few lovely SLC citizens (Bob Bliss, Ken Sanders, and Anne Milliken, among them) who share our sentiment on space as they walk us through the places they call “home.”

Meet Renu Reed.

Born and raised in India, Renu has a less-permanent notion of “home.” While she is completely in love with the one on Michigan Avenue which she shares with husband Andrew and pup Tashi, she knows that windows, walls, and her things are not the reason why.

“Nothing belongs to you. If tomorrow I don’t have my stuff…it’s okay.”

As it’s done many times before, life is taking her family to a new city in a new state. And, while she’ll miss this house—and, in particular, the lovely garden—she knows “home” will follow her wherever she goes. Renu’s story serves as a beautiful reminder of the ever-changing nature of a space to call one’s own. Wherever it may be (and for however long), there is one constant: it should give back to you just as much as you put into it. Whether you’re looking to move on, move in, or spruce up the space you’re in, give us a call. We can help.

LET US [BOW TO, CRUSH ON, SPOTLIGHT, LOVE, POST UP, PRAISE] CELEBRATE YOUR SPACE.

We needn’t spell it out for you each time, but the truth is, we kind of like saying it: We think there are few sentiments that ring truer than “home is where the heart is.” Call it cliché, but the importance of where you live is second only to who you love, and both should be handled with the utmost care. Our partnership with RadioWest for the Habitat series enables us to have a small look inside the homes of those Salt Lakers who whole-heartedly agree with us and happily exist in a space that perfectly supports them.

Meet former RadioWest producer, Anne Milliken…

Like previous Habitat subjects, Ken Sanders and Bob Bliss, Anne has perfected the art of “home”. A native of Paris, she spotted her future abode sometime in the 90s and has since crafted a space that reflects her quirk, intellect, and upbringing in equal parts.

“It’s more fun to go to somebody’s house that’s a little unpredictable.”

Watch the video below to see Anne’s stunning and eclectic home (we’re particularly fond of her spitfire commentary and genuine desire to die in the bed she loves). As ever, stories like this motivate and inspire us to continue pairing people with place, and we’ve got no plans to stop anytime soon. Should you be in the market for something that suits you just flawlessly, call us up. We can help.

LET US [PERFECTLY MATCH, DRESS UP, POST, DOUBLE TAP, ADD TO, ENHANCE, FILM] CELEBRATE YOUR SPACE.

Perched just behind Park City’s famed, historic Main Street, this wholly-renovated gem sits with the quiet patience of a home that’s had a front-row seat to the last 130-odd years of American history. From the timeless exterior and daydream-inducing wraparound deck to the interior’s pitch-perfect color palette, we are truly, madly, deeply in love with this one. From here, all of what makes PC great is within almost a literal stone’s throw: shopping, dining, world-class skiing. Feeling a bit more introspective? This place is built for that, too. Stay in, post up by the fire, finally finish that Vonnegut. The way we see it, whatever your pleasure, this place is the stuff of dreams…

Home is where you hunker down. It’s where you pick what goes and what stays, and where you put your truest you on display. Create the space you need, say we, and it’ll support the life you like to live. As a COLLECTIVE, there are few things we hold nearer and dearer than the notion of “home,” and this is precisely why we jumped so quickly at the chance to team up once more with Radio West for another installment of Habitat.

As we mentioned in the last video, which featured SLC book-seller Ken Sanders, Habitat is a “video series that celebrates those locals living authentically and explores the spaces that they happily call ‘home.’” In this video installment, we’re thrilled to bring you one of our absolute favorite Salt Lake citizens, Bob Bliss. Since his birth in 1921, there are few things Bob hasn’t done. He’s an architect, furniture designer, MIT graduate, and has served as dean of the University of Utah’s Graduate School of Architecture as well as President of the Utah Heritage Foundation. He’s a delightful, intelligent, intentional human being with a home to match.

“IT USUALLY TAKES ME AN HOUR, OFTEN TWO HOURS, TO FINISH THE NEW YORK TIMES IN THE DINING ROOM…”

Watch the video below to take a look into Bob’s space, which he bought with his late wife, Anna. It’s a beautifully blended marriage of both of their styles (his furniture designs, her paintings), and a lovely addition to the series.

LET US [DISCOVER, DELIGHT IN, FALL FOR, REVERE, PRAISE, PRINT, ADMIRE] CELEBRATE YOUR SPACE.

We’re nothing short of thrilled to partner with our friends at Radio West for a new video series that speaks impeccably to our COLLECTIVE hearts. Habitat, in brevity, is a look inside. A video series that celebrates those locals living authentically and explores the spaces that they happily call “home”.

You’ve heard this from us before…

Where “home” is concerned, we don’t particularly care about the where or the how much or the what’s inside. Rather, our primary concern is that it reflect you. That you take the time to create what you need and craft what you desire (click through this series to see just how seriously we take the notion). In turn, we like to say, you’ll get the support you need from the space in which you live. It’s that simple. Happily, this is precisely the idea that Habitat celebrates, and the first video in the series is a perfect anthem to the soul inside. Ken Sanders is our city’s well-known, rare-books dealer and all-time collector. A fascinating human with the habitat to match.

“Maybe houses and people start becoming like one another…like people and pets, supposedly. Am I the house’s pet, or is the house my pet?”

Watch the video below to explore Ken’s “Forest House” in the city and see what it is that yours truly and Radio West have to gush about. Stories like this one inspire us to continue pairing people with the spaces in which they belong.

LET US [FIND, EXPLORE, GAWK AT, ADORE, PHOTOGRAPH, FILM, APPLAUD] CELEBRATE YOUR SPACE.

Maybe you saw it when we listed it last week. In fact, with a space this striking, it’s unlikely that you missed it. Perched among the pines of Summit Park, this space has been dubbed “Treehaus,” and it’s the latest Passive House project brought to us by incomperable Chris Price (along with the folks at Park City Design + Build). With such an arresting exterior and such innovative innerworkings, it’s no wonder that this home has already kicked up quite a commotion (and was even featured by Curbed.com). Clean lines meet clean design, and this is the stuff of our dizziest COLLECTIVE daydreams.

Watch the video below for an inside peek at the groundbreaking space. When you’re done, give us a shout. Let’s get you home.

We’ve seen this stunning Ed Dreier work of art through many years and multiple owners. We’ve drooled over the architecture and publicly declared our love more than once. We even helped the current owners (and our favorite people) make it their own and design the perfectly-minimal interior. Speaking frankly, it’s one of the best and most significant residential structures in Utah, and a Sunday spent here ranks among things we love the very most. Walls of windows, freshly-baked bread, champagne and good chums on a snow-capped spring day…we can attest that any good vibes gleaned from this video are very real. Here’s to 2018’s version.
