Tucked into Salt Lake City’s Central City neighborhood, Row17 is one of those places where the surrounding community becomes an extension of home. So rather than simply photographing the condo itself, we spent the morning exploring the blocks around it, and were reminded just how much this neighborhood has to offer.
The day began just across the street at Sweet Lake, where breakfast is practically a neighborhood tradition. Known for its house-made biscuits, creative comfort food, and freshly squeezed limeades, it’s the kind of place that quickly becomes part of your weekend routine. Whether you’re meeting friends for brunch or grabbing lunch to go, it’s easy to see why locals love it. Living here also means everyday conveniences are never far away. Trader Joe’s is an easy walk from the condo, making grocery runs refreshingly simple. Along the way you’ll pass local businesses, cafés, and restaurants that make this part of Central City feel both vibrant and wonderfully walkable.
Speaking of cafés, you won’t be able to resist stopping by Honeysuckle Coffee Co. Bright, welcoming, and filled with the aroma of freshly brewed espresso, it’s exactly the kind of neighborhood coffee shop every community hopes for. Whether you’re working remotely for the morning or simply grabbing a latte before heading downtown, it feels like part of the neighborhood’s living room. We recently highlighted this small business in Life in Your Space | Row, Row, Row You’re Home, where Honeysuckle is just one of the many reasons we love this pocket of Salt Lake City.
As we continued exploring, we wandered over to Salt Lake Community College’s South City Campus on State Street. It’s just a short walk from Row17, making this location particularly appealing for students, faculty, or anyone wanting to live close to campus. For investors, it’s easy to imagine the potential of a low-maintenance property in such a convenient location.
Then we discovered one of our favorite surprises of the day.
Hidden quietly behind the campus sits the Peace and Justice Garden, a peaceful public space that feels like one of Salt Lake City’s best-kept secrets. A gentle water feature provides the soundtrack while colorful murals brighten the garden and bronze sculptures honor remarkable women throughout history. Small café tables tucked throughout the space make it the perfect place to enjoy lunch, read a book, or simply slow down for a few minutes.
It’s one of those places you probably wouldn’t know existed unless someone showed you.
After spending time in the gardens, dinner is just as easy to find. Veggie House, one of our favorite local restaurants, is also within walking distance. Even devoted carnivores leave impressed by the bold flavors and creative menu. That’s what we love about homes like this Row17 condo. Of course the finishes matter. The layout matters. The natural light matters.
But what you’ll remember years from now are the Saturday breakfasts across the street. The morning coffee that becomes part of your routine. The hidden garden where you escape for a quiet lunch. The neighborhood restaurants you recommend to every friend who comes to visit.
Sometimes the best feature of a home isn’t inside its walls at all. Sometimes it’s everything waiting just outside the front door.
