My friend Alan has a knack for creating things. He’s a designer, you see, so he’s got a keen eye for taking the unfinished, the undefined and transforming them into something both beautiful and functional.
Take, for instance, his home, the one currently for sale on East Millcreek’s Hillside Lane.
Owned previously by a local artist/architect who’d converted the residence into a studio workshop complete with drafting tables, massive easels and even a table saw. The result was cool but left the home feeling crude and not wholly usable. Alan saw the vision though– the steel beams allowing for vaulted ceilings and wide open spaces– and, after purchasing the property, set about doing what he does best: designing. Now, after several years of painstaking work, he’s transformed this three bedroom, two bath house with a mother-in-law apartment into what it is today–
a modern space that’s as practical as it is gorgeous.
You can also find Alan’s passion for creating in the pottery he creates. This fella’s quite good at throwing clay. Take a look at his work– his cups and bowls and pitchers. Bravo, Alan! Bravo! Now that he’s given this home the polish it needs, he’s decided to sell and, to celebrate, he recently invited his fellow potters from Salt Lake Pottery Studio over for a pottery exchange, and we were lucky enough to be there and to share a lovely evening of bites and drinks and laughs.
