Imagine your perfect space.
Now imagine that you can actually build it for yourself. Meet Pete Bailey. I’ve known Pete for a million years; we worked for the same climbing company back in the 90s. Nowadays, Pete’s my brother-in-law and we hang often. Pete’s classically SLC understated. He’s skied and biked the gnarliest lines, kayaked heavy rivers, and climbed walls and peaks all over the place. He’ll divulge the hairy details only if you ask. He’s also a master craftsman and an in-demand, luxury home builder.
Pete’s been living on the same street (in three different houses) in the Canyon Rim neighborhood for almost thirty years. The way he puts it, “Conveniences like groceries and fantastic local restaurants here are plentiful, and the proximity to the freeway makes getting anywhere downtown, or the mountains for that matter, easy.”Additionally, Canyon Rim and Tanner Park have extensive trail networks perfect for a bike commute, a trail run or a walk along the stream with your dog.
Pete procured this his third property on Louise Avenue several years ago and started dreaming of what his dream pad might look like. For him, the property required the space for a toy garage big enough for a Sprinter van, a climbing wall and his kayaks, mountain bikes, skies and climbing gear– you know, the necessities for a life well lived. Secondly, there had to be an organic flow to the home’s interior as well as a natural connection to the environment. Third, and perhaps most importantly, he wanted views of both the city and the mountains, and let me tell you, the view of Mt. Olympus from the upstairs is unbelievable.
Recently, Pete hosted a small backyard soiree with some family and a few friends to kick off summer, and the fruits of all his hard labor were abundantly clear. His quality of work, the abundance of light and that view left no doubt that this residence was built with mindful intention.
Bravo, brother. Bravo.
