Design Matters Film Series: Urbanized
Short notice, sure. But we wouldn't say something if it weren't worth it.
We made mention last week -- SLDesign Week is happening. All throughout the week, SLC dwellers can catch tours, workshops, parties, and more in celebration of the ever-changing, progressive beast that is design [click here for the official calendar]. It started last night with Pecha Kucha Volume 10, and for those that missed out, our sincerest apologies. The line-up was an inspiring one, to say the least. Speakers spoke, and we walked out of The State Room with a renewed sense of "hell yes."
For tonight, there's something slightly different but equally galvanizing on the SLDesign Week plate, and we suggest you pull up a chair. At 7:00pm, the Utah Film Center will be showing Urbanized at the SLC Public Library. This is a FREE showing, folks. Urbanized is the final film in Gary Hustwit's design series [see also, Helvetica and Objectified] that explores the design of cities and the issues that come with urban design. Put simply, "By exploring a diverse range of urban design projects around the world, Urbanized frames a global discussion on the future of cities." It was an official selection at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, and it's an official selection for us tonight.
