Progressive Dining | Park City

With a slew of top-notch dining establishments in our own fine city, hoofing it up to the neighbor’s for a bite usually seems unnecessary, especially since Park City is used to entertaining tourists and their affinity for the higher price tag. Folks, shoulder season is here to change your mind…and your plans. As we drag our longing eyes from summer and look forward to ski season, the Park City food and beverage operations turn their attention to the locals [yes, you].

To prove it, SLC Mixers, an extension of SLC Foodie, recently put together a wining-and-dining event escorting participants on a tasty tour to highlight a few of Park City’s local favorites for a highly palatable price. Food, bevs and Park City? You don’t have to tell us twice.

The evening started at The Washington School House Hotel [we gushed over this gem just last week] where Francis Facteau of Libation kept our glasses full as we sampled small bites prepared by David Berkowitz of World Kitchen & Specialty Foods. Thai Blackened Shrimp Flat Bread and Pinot Noir - don't mind if I do.

On to Historic Main Street and Shabu, where the Valaika brothers were graciously waiting with sake. Right? Known for their freestyle Asian flavors, Shabu’s food is fresh and healthy with a twist on old-school favorites. Case in point, Miso Glazed Black Cod – arigato, guys. For our final stop, we slipped into Reef's, a family-owned joint with Israeli flair tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Main Street. Mediterranean, European and Middle Eastern dishes galore. Chef Asi's photographs adorn the gallery walls for a unique and authentic ambience. Very cool.

Moral of the story, it was a delightful evening and well worth the trip. Thanks for the hospitality, all - this is how neighbors become friends.

Be sure to stay tuned for upcoming events by SLC Mixers, and consider this an open invitation for y'all to head for the hills before the snow [and celebs] descend.
