I'm an easily-excited human, but I become borderline fanatical about design, architecture, modernism, and beauty in its most general sense. Couple that with my obsessive love for Utah, and things can get intense. Imagine my response, then, when I was asked by the Utah Heritage Foundation to be a juror for submissions entered to receive the coveted Heritage Foundation Preservation Award. According to UHF, it's an award given "only to business owners, companies, and individuals who have shown the highest standard of preservation in their projects."
Over and over, I'm inspired by the vast amount of incredible architecture in our city, be it via the work we do with the Utah Heritage Foundation or time spent with members of Salt Lake Modern. More than that, I'm repeatedly astounded by those individuals in Salt Lake who are taking the time to care for, preserve, love, renovate, re-imagine and work tirelessly to save and respect the beautiful buildings here. It goes without saying, but I'm super enthused to meet and thank the folks whose homes/buildings we discussed on the panel a few months ago. Big honor. Come join us and shake hands with some very deserving, Salt Lake-preserving people.
