Field Notes: Celebrate Your Mum + Love Your Chums
The photos below will likely make us all ache for a minute or two more of warm fall weather. The first snow is always nice to see out the window, but it tends to push our sleeves down and our gatherings indoors. That said, we don't think you should give up just yet. Birthday fun can still be had outdoors [see below for more specific help]. Not that you need schooling on how to best jubilate on the one day of the year that points directly at your mug or anything; you make merry however makin' merry suits you best. But here's a few tips that we employed for Cody's 33rd birthday that will, at the very least, keep you a tad warmer and a boatload happier:
1. Layer up, son. Scarves and beanies are a universally good look. Thanks to the miracle of these threads, it's possible to take ya' booty outside any ol' time of year. Fire-pit dinner party? Trek to a nearby hot tub? Bundle up and bar hop? Let's do all three.
2. Wrestle. Or "wrastle," as my pops used to call it. Have a couple of drinks and 'play' the way you did when you were nine, before you cared what it meant to be cool. Shove a friend and call 'em a wimp. Then it's every man/woman for themselves.
3. Take yer meds. It's called laughter, and you should use it to your advantage. Yuckin' it up is known to improve your mood and decrease stress levels, but it can also boost your immune system and relieve pain. So, win, win, win...win.
4. Drink heat. Lucky for you, we've just had an evening with the trio behind Sugarhouse Libations, and now we can all make a proper hot toddy. Click the link to get schooled, then mix it up right for a toasty winter walk or b-day adventure of your choosing.
