4th West Oktoberfest

September 27, 2016 |

We like to be seasonally appropriate whenever possible, and thus, we think a good story about Oktoberfest is about due. The famous fest is a fantastic tradition that took root thanks to little more than a royal wedding. That is, when Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen decided to tie the regal knot, the ensuing festivities became a yearly tradition, and were officially christened as Oktoberfest in 1810. Since then, as most of us know, the festival has become a worldwide celebration (and one that we happily participate in). In fact, a whopping 700 million liters of beer–a verifiable shit ton–was consumed worldwide on the festival’s 200 year anniversary. And with all this in mind, we think it’s stellar that our friends at Mountain West Hard Cider will be joining forces with the good people at Red Rock Brewery for the first-ever 4th West Oktoberfest

Supplying the vital libations to those who chose to observe this age-old Bavarian tradition is a job that shouldn’t be taken lightly, and these folks are joining the ranks of good Samaritans everywhere to bring the goods. The inaugural 4th West celebration is set be one hell of a time–picture a melange of this city’s finest brews (provided by both Mountain West Hard Cider and Red Rock Brewery), some killer live music and spinning from the likes of DJ Justin Godina and Hectic Hobo (among others), and a phenomenal line up of food trucks (slanging everything from poutine to Korean BBQ to tacos). On top of that you’ll find activities galore: giant Jenga, a ring toss, beer pong, corn hole, and craft table to keep the kiddos entertained (we mentioned the beer pong, right?). A mere $7 will get you through the gate, a limited edition mug (#swag), and one hell of a good, local-lovin’ time. Bonus: a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Utah Pride Center (craft beer + philanthropy = no-brainer). We highly suggest you stop on buy, sample some of SLC’s best bubbly brew, and show your support for all things local. After all, ’tis the season…

7th Annual Bunny Hop!

There are certain staples of spring whose absence would throw all of those warm weather vibes straight out the window: sunshiney patios, the budding of the trees on South Temple, and one of our favorite fair-weather events, Mr. Jesse Walker’s Bunny Hop. That’s right. Now in its seventh year, this COLLECTIVELY adored event is gearing […]
