Sunday Brunch is a delicious weekend ritual. It kinda defines the beginning of a new week [or the end of a sensational weekend]. For our part, we feel pretty certain that it consists of three very necessary and basic ingredients: food, booze, friends. Bacon, bloodies, besties. Mimosas, mates, and marscapone-stuffed French toast. It all cuts the same. Brunch is clutch.
Naturally, then, you can assume that choosing a brunch location is something that requires discerning taste. You want good food, a few drink options, and a nice spot to do some catching up and face stuffing. Our opinion: SLC has a boatload of perfect places. For the purposes of this blog, we're telling you to gather your peeps and spend your next Sabbath with the good folks of Avenues Proper. Yes, proper. As in, located smack-dab in the heart of our beloved Aves neighborhood. The sustenance found on the menu is equal parts intriguing and tasty. If you’ve never had baked beans, grilled tomato, or bubble & squeak on your morning plate, we strongly suggest the Proper Breakfast. It's one part classic diner breaky, one part prim English fare, and exceptionally delectable. Chicken & Waffles served with thyme-infused syrup. Yes, puh-lease. Italian scramble. Oh my gawd. Whatever your choice, pair it with one of their handcrafted artisan brews or cocktails. Like many of our favorite local haunts, Avenues Proper is committed to using locally- and regionally-sourced ingredients wherever possible. Translation: you can enjoy handcrafted meals and top-notch drinks made with love and mixings from our own great city/state. That's a proper brunch.
