PechaKucha Night | Vol. 12

September 24, 2014 |

For those in need of some cerebral stimulation, might we suggest to you one of our favorite conversation congregations: PechaKucha. We’ve plugged this global “chit chat” event [started in 2003 in Tokyo, and now held in hundreds of cities all over the world] many a time, and thats because it’s held to inspire, educate, and start a communal conversation. You might remember that Cody once took part. Presented in the format of 20×20 [each speaker presents 20 slides for 20 seconds each] the lightning-round salon keeps the intellectual and artistic minds of Salt Lake smartly synced, and we’ve been inspired by many a mouth at these gigs. The topic of this particular installment is very near and dear to our COLLECTIVE hearts: the food and bevy scene in SLC. Hosted by the good folks at Publik Coffee Roasters [we’ve talked a bit about their badass space], it’s got a plate full of some fantastic speakers. First off, one of our favorite boozy broads [and a regular/fantastic COLLECTIVE contributor] Ms. Darby Jane Doyle of A Bourbon Gal has been selected as one of the prestigious PechaKucha presenters. Add to that amazing folks like Viet Pham, Vanessa Chang, Matthew Allred, and Erik Ostling, and your table’s all set. We think this one may be maxed out on attendees, but click on the link below to find out for certain or add yourself to a wait list. Food trucks, coffee by Publik, good conversation, and even better people: we can’t think of a more exceptional way to spend the day.

PechaKucha Night, Vol. 12 | Sunday, Sept. 28th, 4:00pm | 975 S West Temple, SLC

There are certain staples of spring whose absence would throw all of those warm weather vibes straight out the window: sunshiney patios, the budding of the trees on South Temple, and one of our favorite fair-weather events, Mr. Jesse Walker’s Bunny Hop. That’s right. Now in its seventh year, this COLLECTIVELY adored event is gearing […]
