We don’t talk much about other cities. Truth be told, it’s not because Salt Lake is the only place worth blathering about — our salty city, rather, is just a tremendous place to live and well within our area of expertise. We know what’s happening, who’s making good on creative progression, and precisely where to head for fine design, good food, and a stiff drink. That all said, we can happily appreciate the otherness of places we don’t feel inclined to call ‘our own’. One such place is our small, well-known neighbor to the east. Park City is, obviously, a powerhouse as far as resort towns go, but there’s a shit load of reasons to visit that run beyond the joy of Sundance. When temperatures aren’t freezing and the hills aren’t white, PC is likely to charm the pants right off you. Case in point, this weekend’s Kimball Arts Festival, held each and every lovely summer [this is the 44th annual, y’all] on Main Street.
The fest kicked off last night with an opening-night gala. Sad face, only one of ours was able to attend — a good time for her, no doubt, as it was set to include a tasty, seated dinner, Porsche display, silent auction, and fashion show. But we can all still get in on the good times. Today is day one of the festival, and it’ll run through Sunday. Fun will include countless food vendors, live music, a kid’s area with loads of activities, over 220 exhibiting artists, and ‘Festival After Dark’ [which means more music, DJ’s, dancing…you get it]. Check the website [below] for details, but don’t bother looking for too long. You should go. Yeah, you should just go.
