If you are anything like us, then you’re ever in the market for new ways to support and lift up our fair city and her people. Lucky us, Framework Arts is providing just such an opportunity with their inaugural fundraiser this Friday at Publik Coffee Roasters. Framework Arts is a local non-profit whose goal is to engage youth, community, and educators in art education. Framework “believes strongly in a social practice of art making–one that brings together object making, conversations, performance, activism, and community members of all ages and backgrounds.” They are currently teaching a Family Art Studio Program at Escalante Elementary, which like many Title I schools has a population that desires and thrives with art and cultural resources. All told, we’re pretty damn lucky to live in a city with vibrant immigrant and refugee populations, presenting opportunities for diverse storytelling in a variety of forms.
