The only way our homes will ever really remain meaningful to us over time, is if they satisfy in us a deeper sense of what it means to be securely housed in our bodies, hearts, and minds.
This is why we have been doing our best to point ourselves, our clients and our communities back to the Self. Whether it is embodied movement classes, community meditation groups, house therapy sessions, or first time home buyer classes, we have tended to a holistic approach to real estate, design and good neighbor-ing for almost twenty years. To keep it communal, most of what we offer is spread word of mouth. We have a print menu in our COLLECTIVE homebase that folks can pick up anytime with a current schedule as well as an ever evolving list of services. Stop by and grab one, have a cup of tea or coffee and say hello. Free hugs for the touchers. Warm smiles for everyone. Or check the newsletter at the beginning of each month for a snapshot of what is hot off the press. Spoiler alert. It’s us. And we are at your service. Happy July, friends. What a beautiful month to be alive in this city, we call ‘home’.

Nanette is a champion for the preservation, recognition, and sale of period homes as well as unique and novel properties. For this accomplished house whisperer, home is not only composed of the brick and mortar, but also by the spirit of the people living within and their ability to transform a space into a reflection of themselves and where they are in their life journey. In other words, their “happy place”. Having Nanette on your side brings with it a seasoned Realtor® with a background in psychology which allows her to expertly and thoughtfully guide her clients through both the transactional aspects of real estate as well as the transitional elements so inherent in the process of buying or selling. Listening, educating, assisting, and serving her clients by putting their life interests first are the guiding principles by which Nanette manages her real estate business. Nanette’s own life journey has allowed her the opportunity to have lived in many of our nation’s states, holds Real Estate licenses in several, and has now chosen to return to Salt Lake City to be near family and to contribute to the Beehive State. We welcome her with open arms and are confident she will hold you in hers as you look for that perfect place to call home.
You could be living anywhere, really. Why SLC?
Ever since my first move away from my hometown of Michigan, where I was born and lived my entire life until my early 30’s, I have been what I would call somewhat of a nomad. I got my first taste of “lifestyle diversity” when I moved to New York, which whet my appetite for discovering new and yet to be discovered experiences across the United States and the world. I have lived and owned property in New York, Ohio, Arizona, California, Oregon, Hawaii and Utah. I have explored the opportunity to move overseas to Portugal and France…which is a bit more complicated…but, I have rented housing overseas to “try it out”. Ultimately, the reason I have settled on Salt Lake City, UT is because my first-born son is deeply ingrained in this area. He recently married and he and his wife are now expecting twins! So, I am now happily committed to staying here to be close to my growing family. An added benefit is that SLC has so many outdoor activities and is surrounded by beautiful mountains and nature, as well as very interesting historical towns and architecture.
Do you remember when home first started mattering to you? Ever since I can remember, as early as my young childhood, home has held a very special place in my heart and soul. Home matters deeply to me to this day and equates to family, warmth and comfort, safety, a place for celebrating special holidays and events, home cooked meals, pets co-existing, a place where one can be themselves and express themselves and their uniqueness in décor and design. Home is my natural habitat!
Describe your perfect home or space. What does it look/feel like? My perfect home or space is characterized by unique beauty and exudes a welcoming and warm embrace; however, I prefer a clutter free environment, and I am a minimalist by way of “stuff”. The ideal living environment for me personally, is a space which contains elements that bring peace, joy or necessary function. Accordingly, in my ideal space, “less is more”. I love art pieces that hold meaning for me, yet furniture that was specifically purchased for that home — I do like homes with historical character. Period homes are my personal favorite, whether it’s a Victorian, Craftsman, Mid-Century Modern, Spanish Adobe, Prairie, or Gothic Revivalist. Again, I like the diversity of architecture, and “feather my nest” with period specific furniture, yet the jewelry for my home is the art and lighting. Lighting, and the ability to adjust the lighting brightness and tone, is very important for me to ensure the environment feels how I like it feel throughout the day and seasons.
Why does practicing real estate resonate with you? There are two main reasons why practicing real estate resonates with me. First, I simply love architecture and remodeling / renovating homes…whether for myself, my family or my clients, this passion and skillset allow me to practice something I truly enjoy while simultaneously helping others. The most famous quote regarding this sentiment is often attributed to Confucius: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life“.
Secondly, buying or selling a home inherently involves a major life transition. Life transitions, whether promoted by positive or challenging events, can be stressful. Listening, Educating, Assisting, and Serving my clients by putting their life interests first are the Guiding Principles by which I manage my Real Estate business. I draw upon my educational background as a Ph.D. Psychologist to sensitively and patiently guide my clients through a successful and less stressful real estate transactions. “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old but on building the new” – Socrates
Is there a promise that you’d like to make to your clients? My promise is to work diligently on your behalf, listen to truly understand, and act in your best interest always with complete honesty and transparency.

Kim Fearick is a lover of all things wild and alive. She lives in a constant state of wonder and exploration that manifests as meandering through the desert, plunging her hands into the soil, and turning over the rocks of her inner landscape. Her curious nature has led her to build a life around uncovering the stories that lie within a person, a place, or an object. Kim lives by the rules of radical love, and her core intention here at cityhome is to create a space that feels welcoming to anyone who walks through the door, a place that you can find something to connect with, even if it’s just the human standing behind the counter. As both a maker herself, and a seller of handmade goods, Kim is able to provide a high level of intuitive customer service that extends beyond the boundaries of traditional retail experience. She believes that a well run shop serves as a hub for the community at large, and provides a safe place for folks to get curious about how they’re building and nurturing home for themselves and others.
You could be living anywhere, really. Why SLC? I originally came out here straight out of high school, my older brother was here so I figured it would be a good jumping off point. Since then I’ve left and come back to SLC a handful of times over the course of the last 20+ years, so I’ve thought about this question a lot. I love the connection and access to nature that I have here. There is something so sacred in this land. I feel so fortunate to live in a place with such topographical diversity. I am most at home and at peace when I’m in the deserts of central and southern Utah. I’ve moved just a state away thinking that would be close enough, and I truly felt like I’d left a piece of myself behind, so I decided to come back to her. It’s such a privilege to get to live within a 4ish hour drive of some of my favorite places on Earth. I’ve also found such a strong community here that I just can’t imagine trying to rebuild anywhere else, at least at this moment in time. I guess the common denominator is that I’ve felt the most heart here in Utah than anywhere else I’ve been to.
Do you remember when home first started mattering to you? I think I’ve always connected deeply with the idea of “home”, although maybe I wouldn’t have always recognized it as such. As a kid I always wanted to belong, to feel a part of something. And I looked for it in different things. People, places, animals, etc…. I always felt at home in nature, I grew up on the East Coast so for a long time the ocean was home. When I moved out west I felt immediately at home in the mountains, and then the desert. I also have a deep connection to animals, so my pets have often felt like home. I will say that finding home within myself is something I’ve been working on for a lot of years, and lately I feel like I’ve been able to create a safe place internally that I can rely on wherever I may find myself, physically.
Favorite read/watch: Some of my favorite reads are ‘Braiding Sweetgrass’ by Robin Wall Kimmerer, ‘When Women Were Birds’ by Terry Tempest Williams and ‘All About Love’ by bell hooks. I love to read things that light my brain up with imagery and feel simultaneously like poetry and nature with a dash of resistance and revolutionary thinking.
In terms of what to watch, I’m currently stuck on Hamnet, so I have to list that. ‘Fire of Love’ is a documentary I’ve watched in the last year or so and absolutely loved. And I always go back to some of my favorite late 80’s, early 90’s favorites like True Romance, Beetlejuice and The Professional.
Is there a promise that you’d like to make to your clients? For me the purpose of a well functioning shop is to serve as a hub for community connection. Whether that’s introducing someone to a local maker or product, or just providing a space that they can pop into and find a familiar face. Everything else tends to fall into place if you can achieve that. So I’d like my promise to clients, customers and community to be that when you’re here I’ll do everything that I can to make you feel like you’re home, like you have a place that you belong.
What don’t you believe any more? What do you believe now? What is something you’ve come to believe? Wow, wow, wow do I love this question…also whoa, that’s so deep!
I no longer believe that there is a “right way” to live. I think for a long time I bought into the idea that there was a formulaic way that we were supposed to move through life in order to be “successful”. That there was a timeline I was meant to follow, or predestined boxes to check that signified that I was on the right track. Following that way of thinking led me into dark places, and I’m so glad I touched those places so that I could really experience how wrong that felt in my body.
I believe now that we are all exactly where we’re supposed to be, and that we have everything we need inside of us. That sounds so simple and maybe reductive, and it’s been one of the hardest things for me to truly accept and to trust. The idea that this present moment is such a gift. Whether we’re struggling to pull ourselves through it or we’re dancing into each day, that is the right answer. That is where we’re meant to be. Trying to find a little bit of peace and understanding in the ever-changing ugly and beautiful of each day.
I’ve come to believe that we are all just animals trying to find something to connect to. Someway to feel loved. The closer I connect to that understanding, the higher capacity I have to love and be loved. When that feels hard or far away I like to imagine each person (including myself) as their 6 year old self. What does that little human need? How would we play together? If I can move from there I can often find empathy in places that can seem hopeless.
Is it too late to say Happy New Year? We’re only two weeks into 2026, yet it already feels like we’ve lived a whole lot of it. And still—it feels like we were just clinking glasses, toasting anew. Time is odd like that lately—equal parts sprint and blur. But—let’s get to it.
What’s in a forecast? Simply put—and in our case (we’re Realtors, not economists)—it’s an informed point of view. One shaped by data, grounded in plenty of real-life experience, and guided by a deep understanding of how people make moves into, out of and around our great state.
Looking back, 2025 marked a shift toward balance. Price growth slowed to a steady 2–4%, inventory opened up, and mortgage rates hovered before easing slightly later in the year. Average sales prices landed in the mid-to-high $500s for single-family homes and the low $400s for condos and townhomes. Overall home sales were down 11% from 2024, yet the year ended with roughly 11,000 homes available on market, up 19% from the previous year and 9,100 more active listings than 2021. In short, buyers gained what’s been scarce for years: time to think and room to choose. Moves became intentional, grounded in real life, and guided by personal priorities rather than the market’s momentum—in our opinion, exactly what a balanced market should feel like.
As you look ahead—whether you’re moving on or moving in—there’s no market metric that defines the “right time.”
The most grounded advice we can offer is simple: the best time to make a move is when you are ready. We’re here to help you navigate every aspect of putting down or pulling up roots. It’s what we do best—getting to the why, as we say. If you can feel change in your bones and want guidance on the next best step, reach out. Come sit with us, walk us through what matters most, and we’ll help you map out a plan that actually fits your life and your timing.
For Katie Deebel, real estate is more than a profession—it’s personal. After years of buying and selling homes across five states during her husband’s Air Force career, she knows firsthand how complex and emotional a move can be. That experience led her to a career in real estate, where she’s represented clients in both Arizona and Alaska, and now calls Utah home. Katie is especially passionate about helping military families find a place to land—that offers both emotional comfort and financial security. Having experienced the challenges of frequent relocations, she understands the importance of finding not just a house, but a home—a space where families can feel grounded, celebrated, and ready for the next chapter. Whether it’s bringing a new child into the world or simply settling into a new community, Katie strives to help her clients find a home that holds space for life’s most meaningful milestones—all while making a smart, strategic investment. With a calm confidence and a practical eye, she helps her clients make smart, strategic investment choices while keeping the heart of “home” at the center of every transaction. Equal parts tactical negotiator and thoughtful guide, she offers a steady hand and a sharp sense of the market—guiding people toward spaces that fit their lives, not just their checklists.
You’re an agent here. Tell us why. What led you to this work? Why cityhomeCOLLECTIVE? My husband’s career in the Air Force has been an incredible adventure—one that’s moved us every couple of years and introduced us to communities all over the country. Along the way, we’ve been fortunate to buy and sell homes several times. Those experiences exposed us to some truly exceptional agents… and a few who fell short. After our third move, I decided to get licensed in Arizona so I could be the kind of agent I wished we’d always had. I quickly fell in love with helping families find a sense of home during seasons of transition. When the Air Force took us to Alaska, I continued my real estate career there, working with many relocating families and learning how deeply personal and emotional a move can be. That perspective still guides my work today. cityhomeCOLLECTIVE felt like a natural fit from the start. The focus on community, design, and thoughtful storytelling mirrors how I see real estate—not as transactions, but as lived-in, meaningful spaces. I value collaboration over competition, integrity over pressure, and clients who care as much about how they live as where they live. That ethos is exactly what cityhome represents.
Describe your perfect home or space. What does it look and feel like? Our Alaska home came very close to perfect. The only thing I might have changed was the extreme winter temperatures and the remoteness, though both were also part of what made it so special. We lived on just over an acre, surrounded by forest. In winter, it felt like living inside a snow globe; in summer, the days stretched endlessly with sunshine, wildflowers, and towering sunflowers that grew well over ten feet tall. The home itself was a modest modern build in North Pole, Alaska—simple, functional, and warm. To me, a perfect space feels grounded and calm, connected to nature, and designed to support everyday life without excess. I’m drawn to clean lines, natural light, and homes that feel intentional rather than overdone.
Favorite read / watch? We don’t watch a lot of TV, but my two favorite sitcoms are The Office (specifically before Michael left) and Schitt’s Creek. Both balance humor with heart, and I love how they find meaning in everyday relationships—plus, a good laugh is always welcome at the end of a long day. When it comes to reading, I tend to gravitate toward self-help and business books. Brené Brown is a longtime favorite; her work on vulnerability, leadership, and wholehearted living has influenced both my personal life and the way I show up for clients. Her writing is a reminder that trust is built through honesty and courage—values I carry into my work every day.
You could be living anywhere, really. Why Salt Lake City? Salt Lake City offers the perfect balance of city amenities and immediate access to the outdoors. My husband and I met in Colorado, where we spent nearly every free moment skiing or hiking, and Utah gives us that same lifestyle—now with the opportunity to pass our love of the outdoors on to our two boys. We live in Mountain Green, just ten minutes from Snowbasin and surrounded by incredible trails. Being able to step outside and connect with nature so easily is a gift, and it’s a big part of why this place feels like home.
Is there a promise you’d like to make to your clients? I promise complete transparency and unwavering loyalty. The majority of the families I serve are military families PCSing—often buying sight unseen and without the luxury of having boots on the ground. I know firsthand how stressful that can be, so I work hard to ensure there are no surprises, especially when it comes to a home’s condition. I’m intentionally detailed and, at times, a little tough in my assessments because accuracy matters. This promise is deeply personal. When we purchased a home in Arizona, our agent embellished the condition, and after a nine-hour drive, we walked into a house that was anything but move-in ready—dirty carpets, scuffed walls, even a footprint on the ceiling. What should have been a moment of pure joy was deflating and exhausting. I never want my clients to experience that. My goal is to advocate fiercely, communicate clearly, and make sure that when you walk through the door of your new home—whether in person or eventually—you feel confident, informed, and excited about what comes next.
