Coming across the perfect home often means substantially more than simply finding all of your “must haves” in one place. A connection with a space can be emotional above all else and it’s in these instances that our COLLECTIVE aphorism “love where you live” derives meaning.

This unit, perched high above the valley, surely has the potential to render its next owner fully smitten.

This spot’s open living areas, choice views, and cozy fireplace are desirable features, to be sure, but they also offer the potential for something more, as only buildings so smartly suited to their inhabitants can; Namely, the chance to feel undeniably, unequivocally “at home.” And, having such a profound union with one’s digs generally makes all things in life–from homecooked meals to lazy days spent lounging on the couch–that much sweeter. Safe to say, we’ve got a sneaking suspicion that whoever snatches this condo up will be all too pleased.

Remodels are, from a more theoretical perspective, the chance to start anew. Clean, spotless walls, unscarred wood floors, and lustrous marble countertops are emblematic of a spatial rebirth of sorts. And, while quality materials and a well-executed aesthetic can certainly set the stage for a long, fruitful partnership between house and inhabitant, you need a little life to get things going.

an immaculate remodel only really becomes a “home” on move-in day.

It’s the lazy, couch-confined days, the summer BBQs and the muddy boot prints that really animate a house and a space as expertly updated as this one only serves to accentuates those rhythms of life. This 15th & 15th number is exactly the kind of fresh canvas that promises unfettered opportunity for living, and, for that reason and more, it’s already been placed under contract. But, be sure to stay up to date on the site, we’ll have spots akin to this one coming soon.

It’s an inspirational thing to see a dream come to life. When patience, tenacity, and vision meld felicitously, we’re all free to bask in the glorious payoff, and—luckily for lovers of a clean, close shave or a high-n-tight—this is the exact recipe that resulted in Garrett Michael Barbershop. By curating a refined team of barbers and taking the time to foster a growing client base, owner Daniela Marroquin has ensured that Garrett Michael is climbing the ranks of SLC barbershops.

let’s cut to it.

Beyond the warm, granite countertops, perfectly tailored design (thanks to help from Daniela’s friend Simon Plevin of Outback Housing), and refurbished barber chairs (that date back to 1910!), there’s a sense of comfort that permeates from the shop from the minute you walk in. The warm towels and slick shaves are clearly a factor in said comfort, but beyond that is the overwhelming sense of community. The shop is alive with laughter and friendly conversation about family, dreams, and aspirations (from clients and barbers, alike). There’s a personal touch and a familiarity at the heart of Garrett Michael that’s all too rare in this world, and if you ask us, it pairs perfectly with a straight-razor shave. By hiring a talented team, designing a refined space, and providing an array of sensational products, Daniela has created a space that feels just as much like a high-end escape as it does like home.

The physical criteria for picking a spot are assuredly important. You want solid bones, shiny new updates, and loads of natural light, to be sure. However, the more ethereal aspects of “home” are worth considering, as well. Because as much as a house is all about studs and shingles, it’s also the anchor to your local community. And, whether you’re kicked back with your peeps or posted up solo on that picturesque balcony, this one splendidly checks both sets of boxes, and then some.

As evidenced by our gathering, these digs invite only the best of vibes.

It’s the perfect space in which to make new, neighborly connections or reaffirm old friendships. Better yet, it’s coming up for grabs oh-so-soon. So, if you’re hunting for a Capitol Hill perch, keep in eye on the site.

And, just like that, you might find yourself hanging up art and putting down roots.

It’s a well-kept secret, this tidy little community. Perched high above State Street, the Plaza boasts a landscaped courtyard and a lovely sense of balance (bring us your introverts and extroverts, your lovers of both privacy and connection).

It’s surprisingly quiet up here, and the bustling city is only a faint echo below.

Squarely in the middle of this little high-rise ‘hood sits this particular penthouse. And for a short while, we all enjoyed the quiet sanctuary, a few laughs, and an ample cheese intake. With views like these and a cozy fireside like this, we could have easily overstayed our welcome, but when it came time for us to depart, a city full of nightlife-style possibilities was just a quick elevator ride away. Whether you’re partial to a night in with a book or a night out with all your favorite people, this place at the Plaza is an apropos home base for all lovers of city living. Modern amenities in a historic building in the heart of SLC…and it’s all blended fabulously.

For the most part, we feel pretty strongly that the personal expression of design makes for the best of spaces, and this Midvale townhome is the ideal depiction of that very truth. The blend of neutral colors here make for a modern canvas…something of a blank slate for some impeccable taste. It’s a blend of old and new, classic and clean, shiny and fresh.

ultimately, it’s a refreshing example of careful articulation.

Thanks to an equal measure of hospitality on the owner’s part, we popped in for a visit over macaroons and French Renaissance vibes. Our usual practice when listing a home, we think it’s a trip always worth taking–the opportunity to experience a space as the owner does is one we don’t miss. This is a spot wherein a palpable level of care has been placed…fresh orchids abound, design books, and an eye for detail inspired us to pay closer attention in our own spaces.

Make no mistake, this is a home ideal for entertaining, and when it hits the market next week, you’d do well to contact us in a hurry. Ready the playlist, light the candles, and grab some flowers and wine…

if you play your cards right, you’ll be hosting your first soiree here in no time.

Your home is so much more than that which resides inside the walls. A neighborhood sets the tone for life inside your space. Tree-lined sidewalks, friendly neighbors, the sunset shining through your windows–all that surrounds this home contributes to everything that makes the insides sing. Above-and-beyond curb appeal is what drew Kito to this freshened Victorian on the Princeton hill.

settling into this space is an easy thing to do.

You can hover around the island in the kitchen, take in a sunset from the front porch, carve out an hour to stargaze through the skylights, or wander out back and soak for a while in the hot tub. Or simply relish in your sound investment, having rented out the mother-in-law apartment downstairs (arm’s reach for late night drinks and chatter, should you decide to rent it to a friend). Tough to see why one would ever want to leave…but life has a way of expanding and moving–with the recent price reduction on this gorgeous spot–it might just be the perfect time for you here.

Dear Visitor, we welcome you to step inside of one of Salt Lake’s best-kept secrets. The gifts, decor, and vibe change accordingly with the season, and we think the only thing missing upon our visit was a choir singing “Hallelujah Chorus”. This is Tabula Rasa, and Sean Bradley, owner and director of this palace, is a fittingly-regal man, indeed. Upon entering, one is greeted with grace and formality. As refined as the wares he sells, Sean is dressed in a fitted sport coat wrapped over a suede vest. He is the perfect complement to what he refers to as his “museum with no admission”. And his staff are equally paired to the space: dressed in fitted vests, silk blouses, and shined leather shoes, with calligraphy pens carefully tucked in their front pockets.

Tabula Rasa, established in 1985 by visionaries Jim McAndrew and David Dean, is just as much a reflection of the past as it is an expression of the future. This is your time to slow down. Feel the fabric. Smell the paper. Try your hand at real life pen-to-paper cursive.

THE SPACE WELCOMES YOU TO ENVISION–AND EXERCISE–A HIGHER SENSE OF SELF

Sean spends much of the year visiting markets around the world–stationery shows, where each hand-painted letter is sealed with wax. The finest wares are snapped up for patrons of Tabula Rasa. In fact, the store’s heartbeat is its remarkable stationary. Think: handcrafted business cards, custom wedding invitations, letterhead, and gold wax seals. Penning a thoughtful note is one thing, but penning it with the rich ink of Mont Blanc, Cross, or a fountain pen with a stem made from coconut wood brings new meaning to a personalized touch.

WITHIN THIS SPACE IS A RARE SANCTUARY FOR ANYONE WHO DESIRES A TOUCH OF OLD-WORLD REFINEMENT

Before I found Tabula Rasa, I had never written a formal letter, never owned a pen that wasn’t plastic, never wrapped a gift in hand-painted paper from Nepal (can you imagine?). We all have a signature, a little set of routines–pieces of ourselves we leave behind with each encounter. Here, you can begin to dream and create what you leave behind with intention. Whatever it is you fill your blank page with, Tabula Rasa provides a platform to discover it. So, it seems there remains only one question: what does your signature look like?

Imagine walking into a person’s dream. A stretch, maybe, but think about it: a space they’d painstakingly designed in their mind’s eye over and over…mulling through each detail, inspired by the possibilities, driven by what they would serve. This is kind of what it feels like to enter the small, perfectly appointed spot that is Brass Smoothies. For those unawares, Brass is a new (and wee) enriched-smoothie shop wrapped in the warm embrace of the glorious 9th & 9th neighborhood. We’ve been known to shower the area with love on plenty of occasions, but with some recent additions (including Pizza Nono, Mabo, and Publik Kitchen…stories coming soon) it’s fast becoming the coolest of all the ‘hoods.

Think “blended bliss”…

The dreamer behind Brass is Erin Miller, and she’s as welcoming as the cute shop’s interior….as are her business partners, Shalyn Huetter and Mike Coker (they “come in a set”). She credits her hubby, too (Jake Miller of Cathedral and Yellow Rose Tattoo) for the collaborative effort that has landed them in such a sweet spot. The four of them are not so unlike the perfect smoothie…every ingredient integral in making sure that the others shine. Says Erin, “I’m so humbled by the support I’ve received, so grateful.”

FRESHNESS waftS through the air, and you can feel your health improving before you even order.

Every smoothie is a discovery, each flavor tailor-made to stand in perfect harmony with the rest of the blended sublimity. Mango peaks through your taste buds just after you taste a hint of coconut. Peanut butter melts in your mouth, then boom…there’s banana. Hints of cinnamon, dashes of turmeric, the zing of ginger…it’s a well-timed symphony in this place. “We don’t sweeten our smoothies with anything other than the sweetness of the fruit, and we aren’t putting a tiny handful of greens in–we are putting a serious amount of nutrition in every single one.” Erin says proudly. Every ingredient sourced locally or from a whole-food supplier, they’re serving up drinks that are “yummy, diverse and healthy as possible.”  Their process is unique to them. And their business? Blended to ripe perfection.
