Spring is upon us, and that means a few fabulous things: sunshiney patios, grown-ass men in bunny suits, and one of our favorite fair-weather events, Mr. Jesse Walker’s Bunny Hop [5th Annual, to be precise]. We love any excuse to day-drink and bust a few moves in 60º+ weather, and when a party raises funds for the Volunteers of America and the Utah Homeless Youth Center, we are willing to get downright debaucherous. We’ve been COLLECTIVELY crashing the annual event [held at The Garage on Beck St. for the last half-decade] for a few years now, and 2015’s Hop is shaping up to be quite deviled, indeed. There are prizes to be won, drinks to be drunk, and vinyl-spinning DJs will be on the 1s and 2s from brunch to dusk. An all-day egg hunt [with loads of prizes] and appearances by two full-grown man bunnies ought to banish any doubts of merriment levels you were having. We mean…really.
The Garage is the perfect venue for this event, to be sure, what with all the outdoorsy goodness and music and bar offerings and corn hole and such. This is the kind of Easter Sunday you always wanted. A beer in hand, your shoulders getting a light tan, and a dirt dance floor on which you’re inspired to show all of Salt Lake your smooth, fearless moves. Quoth Mr. Walker himself, “If you wanna hang out with all the best people you could possibly meet in SLC, from biker gangs to hipsters, foodies, drag queens, artists, doctors and lawyers, this is the place.” The $10 entry fee gets you a raffle ticket, and an all-access pass to the buffet is yours for a meager $7 [bonus: attendees will be treated to a performance by SLC’s Bad Kids]. Put on your Sunday best and hop on over* to The Garage this Easter Sunday to give back and get buck.
