How does good architecture foster well-being and ultimately invite community and connection?
Architect and educator Anne Mooney will help us navigate this powerful topic as she leads our April First Fridays conversation surrounding “The Architecture and Design of Welcoming.” As well as speaking on creating connections through the built environment, she will provide insights on how architects and designers can plan for more welcoming spaces and places for us all to inhabit as we live, work, and play.
Anne Mooney is a graduate of the University of Utah and has completed architecture studies at both Columbia University and the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). She is a co-founder of Sparano + Mooney Architecture, an award-winning firm with offices in Salt Lake and Los Angeles. Many of the firm’s wide-ranging projects–including cultural and community centers, recreation and religious facilities, and multi-family housing and private residences–have been featured in Dwell, A+U, World Architecture, Surface, Utah Style & Design, The Wall Street Journal, and Architect’s Newspaper. Mooney is also a Professor of Architecture at the University of Utah, where she teaches advanced design studios.
