Our Opinion: We were smitten the moment we stepped inside this modern take on the mountain cabin. That dapper, wood-burning stove should have tipped us off that we were in for romance. There’s a quiet energy to this space. Perhaps it’s the openness of it, how the kitchen and dining and living rooms–the upstairs loft, too–connect. Or, perhaps it’s the fact that the home sits tucked among ancient firs and features views that will have any city dweller swooning. Offering puh-lenty of square footage and bedrooms enough for the whole gang (oh, and a couple of kitchens), there’s still privacy to be found here. Solace and sanctuary. A place to unwind, to recharge, to create. And once re-calibrated, city life beckons. Salt Lake City and Park City (not to mention her two world-class ski resorts) are just minutes away. Our friends, Gary & Emily, have lovingly taken care of their Summit Park digs. They’ve improved upon its design and functionality (new appliances, most recently). They’ve loved not only the second-floor master suite for its seclusion but the dedicated, Southern-facing workshop/artist studio, as well. We love the lower level’s optional usage. Come ski season and the Sundance Film Festival, the extra bedrooms, bath, full kitchen and separate entrance have us thinking cash flow. With a three car garage and an additional equipment garage, a wraparound deck and an intimate, outdoor space that’s ideal for entertaining [or sunning on a lazy, summer day], we can’t imagine a more perfect mountain house to call home.
