Our Opinion: Lovers of Millcreek and first-rate craftsmanship, appreciators of a storied past, and aficionados of custom, cozy, curated living…gather ’round. This home marks an infrequent find, no doubt, and the sort of chance you’re unlikely to stumble upon again. If brevity were the order of the day, we’d leave it at “stunning manor with a penchant for entertaining and unparalleled craftsmanship,” but we’ve never been ones to shy away from verbosity. This home on Claybourne is as filthy with customized touches as it is with character: the former being found in everything from the (beautifully-crafted) cabinetry to the (gorgeous) interior water features, to the ArcusStone exterior, which was hand carved by an individual craftsman. The home was purchased by its current owner from an antiques dealer (to whom we can attribute the stunning wall surrounding the back courtyard). From there, the home underwent a complete and impeccable rebuild, but the showstopping, stained-glass-encrusted wall remains. Within the confines of the wall, you’ll find a peaceful, spacious and totally prepped-for-entertaining backyard space. A large back deck (with a built-in barbecue and more than enough space for a table or two), a primely-placed hot tub, a large spread of lawn, and it’s all completely private. Wherever you’re situated, you’ll be front row for a spectacular landscape of backlit stained-glass, so you’ll never want for a view. The interior of this home matches the exterior in terms of muted tranquility and a spa-like calm. Soft light and the occasional flicker of color through an artfully-placed window, the subdued sounds of a few custom, indoor water features, and nice, tall ceilings make the space all at once open and embracing. Ornate but entirely cozy. A few of the 21st century touches you’ll find include a theater room, audio wiring in each room, slick granite and marble countertops, radiant floors, smart device-controlled lighting in most rooms, and an en suite walk-in steam shower, but a soaring staircase and a grand entryway keep the home feeling timeless. Perhaps it’s the stained-glass; perhaps it’s the high ceilings and the harmonious halls; perhaps it’s the serene, private courtyard. Whatever the cause, there seems to be something enlightening about the space. It’s holistically home.
