Our Opinion: There are few things as satisfying as a true, timeless beauty: Monroe, Loren…Clooney. This Harvard & Yale darling is as fetching today as she was the day she was built. A dreamy, cream paint job is punctuated by the pop of navy shutters, and that sweet little walk-up is flanked on both sides by some seriously cheery landscaping (Look, ma! No mowing!). Inside, you’ll find a layout that smoothly blends “fluid floor plan” and “everything in its place”–high ceilings, hardwood floors in the kitchen, checkerboard tile in the bathroom (remember what we said about “timeless”?). There’s also a new tankless water heater, dishwasher, disposal, kitchen faucet and plumbing, and water main shut-off. The backside boasts a covered patio, a good, fenced, bit of lawn, and a few mature trees. You’ll also find a detached garage, which can easily fit 2-3 vehicles, or–being that it’s heated/cooled, insulated, and has great light and 220v electricity–you can use year-round as an art studio/hobby lounge/secret lair. Not that you’d want to ever leave this heavenly home, but should you find yourself itching to roam, you’ll find there’s plenty of room to do so. This quiet, friendly street is squarely in Harvard & Yale, but it’s just a quick walk to 9th & 9th or Sugar House (see also: Finn’s Diner, Hub & Spoke, Karma Coffee, Kyoto, and Liberty Heights Fresh Market–score). We have a good feeling that this one will go the way of a certain, silver-haired George; somehow, it just keeps getting better with age.
