Our Opinion: Sometimes, the stars align and the clouds part and the perfect space and the perfect family come together in beautiful, blissful harmony. (It’s sort of what we live for.) The story of this condo and that family is just one such instance. It was the first family home for current owners, Jude and Kathryn. They’d spent months scouring the streets–Sugar House to Marmalade–looking for the perfect spot that whispered “this is it” and pulled them in close. They saw grand manors with sprawling yards and more rooms than they could possibly fill, but still none of them fit the fam like a proverbial glass slipper. That is, until, they walked into this little unit atop the Hollywood building on 100 South. From the moment they entered the meticulously-maintained hallways and saw the historic, dark wood trim, to when they first set foot in the home’s spacious family room, with craftsman-style woodworking, and huge windows overlooking both the downtown cityscape and the Wasatch mountain range, they knew they had found “home”, and that no other would do. Nestled in the heart of downtown, Nostalgia Cafe became their home office, and Harmon’s their local pantry. Says Jude, “Weekends, we shopped around City Creek, dined at Eva on Main, had drinks at Copper Common, and took in movies with the kids…without ever getting in the car.” It’s utterly convenient, yes, but it’s also entirely practical and supremely cozy. This home is a lesson in “just enough space” and “everything in its place”, and they’re hoping to pass it on to someone who will love it like they did. It’s a tidy home, high above the city. It’s walkable, yet warm. It’s downtown living at a countryside pace. Less clutter. More purpose. This is your glass slipper.
