When SLC’s West Elm location became the very first store nationwide to get down with locals, we gave the scoop. Since the grand opening, they’ve created an in-store shop that features the local artists of Etsy and participants of Craft Lake City, but their local support extends even further, which we love. They’ve joined forces on a more intimate level with Craft Lake City in an effort that enables crafty locals to host workshops. It’s CLC’s DIY Workshop Series, in which said crafty locals will teach an aspect of their trade to willing learners. For each ‘class’ held, participants will get to leave with the fruits of their labor…sometimes figuratively, this time literally. This month’s workshop features Butcher’s Bunches, hosted by saucy gal, Liz, who dabbles in hand-crafted preserves made with local produce [if not from her own garden, then from those of local farmers]. The jams, marmalades, marinades, etc. are all-natural and ripe with imaginative and tasty flavor combos. On the menu for this week’s workshop — no-cook fruit salsa. We find this to be ideal, given recent temperatures outside. Liz will provide fruit, supplies, and step-by-step instructions on how to create/customize your chosen salsa.
