Our Opinion: What do you get when you mix stringent, German, sustainable building practices with killer modern design and the will of a good architect in a pristine mountain setting? This, pals–an unbelievable opportunity to upgrade the way you’re living on this planet. Summit Haus is a game changer…a limit pusher…a revolutionary of sorts. This custom-built Passivhaus was designed with an uber-efficient building envelope, and it combines a medley of unfathomably-green standards. Superior insulation, air tightness, and passive heating and cooling make the structure roughly 70% to 90% more efficient than current standard construction (it’s one of the most insulated and efficient houses in the state, actually). For our part, we love that the design pays little heed to the diminishing idea that bigger is better–instead, Summit Haus was thoughtfully designed to lend to efficient use of square footage (imagine that!). From the open concept kitchen/living/dining area, to the private “main” wing, there’s little lacking and nothing needless here. Being perched so near Park City and all, you’re probably wondering about views. Not to worry. Plenty to look out at through your triple pane, high-performance windows. The outdoor space was as precisely executed as the indoor, making for a simple back deck that’s sublime for taking some long, deep breaths of that clean, piney air between sips of beer or wine or whathaveyou. Energy savings + building longevity = elevated quality of life. This is taking love where you live to a whole new level.
