Storefront to Modern Home

  • October 19, 2012

List Price: Sold | November 2012

    Agent: Cody Derrick

    Neighborhood: Rose Park

Property Profile: 1,300 sq. ft. | 2 bed, 1 bath

Our Opinion: We COLLECTIVELY love unique living spaces, so this obviously has us reeling. This storefront-to-residence conversion is another Geoff Tice work of genius. Originally built in 1905 as a neighborhood market, it got a green rebuild earlier this year, and the result is impressive. Among the eco-friendly perks are radiant heat, insulated concrete floors, Low E Argon windows, and a 30-year architectural, shingled roof. The green icing on the cake, however, is our favorite part; Tice hired the brains of local energy-consulting firm Heliocentric, and the home is designed to be net zero, utilizing energy pulled from roof-top solar panels throughout the year to garner credit for power generosity. The back yard has ample space for lounging and the like, and a detached 2-car garage sits just behind the property. Seriously, friends…we really don’t think it gets better than this.
