Our hats off to everyone who entered The Modern Chair Competition last Friday at Mod-a-go-go; let it be known that we were COLLECTIVELY impressed by the caliber and craftsmanship of the entrees. Our own founding father, Cody Derrick, had the tough job of discerning the best designs in the house as one of the competition’s judges, and it can't have been an easy gig. Local, Clayton Thompson, of Ivory Bill Workshop created and organized the event -- as it so happens, he's the man who also won the contest fair-and-square, according to the event's judges, with his Oxbow Chair. Our beloved and bearded Chad Parkinson of The Furniture Joint took home second place and The People’s Choice Award for his lovely v.i.c. Lounge, thereby sealing our adoration with applause. There was a pretty incredible turn-out at this year's competition, leaving little doubt that this will be an annual staple/celebration of the superb design talent we cultivate here in Salt Lake City. Watch the video below to see a stellar wrap-up of the amazing work we saw in person...then get to your drafting tables and start preparing for the next round.
