     Our Opinion: We love the Avenues for a multitude of reasons (not the least of which being that our COLLECTIVE office is located between H and I–come say HI!), but one of the biggest benefits of living in A-U is the bevy of unique yet-so-quintessentially-”Salt Lake” homes that pepper our northeast hillside. This little bluebird on 5th is no exception–in fact, it could very well be the rule. We’ll start with that daydream-worthy paint job before moseying up that path and through the front door (make note of the fabulous, custom stained-glass window that’s perched above it). The interior schools us all in combining eclectic charm with tasteful updates–hardwood floors tidy up the original archway quite nicely. Cute-as-can-be tile and brickwork in the kitchen lend an abounding sense of hominess, but don’t be fooled–this eatery is outfitted with modern updates aplenty (Wolf stove, Bosch dishwasher). Upstairs is just as cozy/functional, with plenty of original accents mixed harmoniously with modern conveniences. Downstairs is a drop-to-your-knees-hallelujah! custom wine cellar (alas, impressive wine collection not included). Add to that two covered parking spaces, valley views, a few fruit trees, and a hot tub, and we’re straight smitten. The whole compound is located just a short jaunt from City Creek Canyon, downtown, and a couple of markets, all while remaining within the bubble of peace and quiet the Avenues offers. It’s the perfect place for those that admire historic architecture, but not so much the high energy bills/hassle of maintenance that it all-too-often bares. Call it blue and white and home all over.
