Spitz | *Drool*

As we are COLLECTIVELY movin' and shakin' up this fine city of ours with grand design, we keep in mind one of our primary goals: to create spaces that we want to hang out in. We’ll take our good grub in a rad atmosphere any day; we wholeheartedly dig spaces that offer both. We knew that Spitz, formerly an L.A. exclusive, could be just that kinda spot, so we were thoroughly stoked to be asked by owners Josh Hill and Tanner Slizeski to design their first Utah location. We went for an uber urban design with concrete floors, tasty pink neon, windows spattered with band posters and show flyers, and a stunning, Utah-inspired, wall-to-wall mural painted by Ben Weimeyer. Read more about where we landed with the final design and why we chose what we did here.

While studying abroad during their college years, Josh and Tanner were inspired by the bomb dӧner kebob street food they encountered. After the guys’ mutual friend, Bryce Rademan, along with his business partner, Robert Wicklund, saw success in L.A. with a handful of Spitz locations, they decided to bring this Euro-mazingness [sorry] to the Salty masses. The goods on the goods: all Spitz sauces are house made. The menu is a tasty one, and you won't find much of this goodness elsewhere; the aforementioned 'bomb street food' is accompanied by tasty side dishes, drool-worthy combinations of fresh veggies, snazzy mixed drinks, and craft beer. The boys even support local SLC breweries and the mixed drinks are crafted with local ingredients. Hell yes and cheers to that.

We had a COLLECTIVE client gathering on Monday, where the fellas of Spitz were kind enough to offer up free apps and $4 sangria. No disappointments to be found. The street fries are as ace as street fries come, the pita bread is ridic, and the sangria was an absolute delight. It's a good spot for a hang, we tell you. Plant your ass at the bar and sip for a bit, or gather a gang at the communal table and play some Trivial Pursuit™ or Cards Against Humanity. Good times all around. And soon enough, the patio will be complete...just in time for the best weather.
