While it’s quite clear we think the merits of our salty town know no bounds, we still get giddy as all get out every time we stumble across evidence of others in agreement. See, we’re hand-to-heart smitten with SLC, but we know our affinity comes with a tad bit of bias. But when there’s actual, factual, statistic-based evidence of how truly magical this city is? Well, we feel just as proud as any stage mom.
Prepare to get proud.
A recent article by Bloomberg puts Salt Lake City as #1 (that's numero uno, folks!) on a list of most diversified job markets in the 4th quarter of 2018. What does this mean? It means that Salt Lakers are employed by an incredibly wide net of companies (and, consequently, our economy is less likely to be affected by shifts in any one market). Beyond the booming economic conditions that inevitably accompany a diverse job market, the plurality in SLC’s labor force also carries some pretty sweet implications for our city. See, this study suggests that Salt Lake is only continuing to evolve beyond its once highly-conservative, fairly uniform past. It’s also evidence of some pretty cool opportunities we’ve got here in Zion. Once upon a time, a graphic designer, chef, architect, or artist may have had to head for either coast in the hopes of landing a dream job, but these days, you don’t have to.
This means there are more cool people doing cool things right here.
Needless to say, we’re happy to add this article to our wall of fame (right alongside being one of Livability's Top 100 Best Places to Live in 2018). There's plenty to be proud of when it comes to this little slice of the USA we call home, and you can find just a couple examples of our affection here and here. But for now, go ahead and give yourselves an enthusiastic pat on the back for us, would you? After all, you're a definitive part of what makes this state so great.
