We're city people at heart, no doubt...but we still get the frequent urge to go outside our comfy, downtown bubble and explore the outskirts. Development in our valley is happening at a breakneck pace, and it's most easily seen when you head south. Daybreak, for example, is suburbia, yes...but with the sort of touches that make it feel special. Petersen Family Farm, an anchor to it all, lends itself as a shining gift to said Daybreakers, their neighbors, and, yes, us city dwellers too...

"CULTIVATING THE FARMER IN ALL OF US. HARVESTING THE SIMPLE BEAUTY OF LIFE."

Petersen is a 5th-generation family farm and an anchor in the community. Quite frankly, they've embraced the urban sprawl in the effort to connect, discover, and grow along with the community. Indoors, you'll find a small farmer's market/grocery full of farm-grown produce, high-quality meats, and specially-sourced apothecary items. What's more, the folks that planted the seeds will check you out at the produce counter. Full circle, indeed.

IT'S AN ORGANIC PARADISE, AND CUTE, TO BOOT.

Step outside, and it's clear that the grounds here are meant to be explored. A greenhouse full of farm-fresh flowers, animal petting stations, a corn-pit playhouse, tractor rides and the like dot the property, and kids will find themselves well taken care of in the way of things to do. Petersen Family Farm even provides a farmer school camp for the wee ones.

BUT FOOD-TRUCK FRIDAYS, THOUGH...

Because we've saved our favorite part for last. Each and every week--on the very day that marks the start to your glorious weekend--six to eight food trucks set up shop, the music is cranked, and the crowd rolls in. Trucks are rotated weekly, and all are encouraged to use the farm's market-fresh goods. It's the healthiest, happiest kind of party.
