Structurally, evolutionarily, and aesthetically, orchids resonate with what we at the COLLECTIVE aspire to be and do [they're as complex and diverse as they are stunning]. We could say similarly wonderful things about the good folks that run Orchid Dynasty. It’s a bonafide mom-and-pop, built-from-the-ground-up operation, and they’ve got a borderline-obsessive knowledge of and commitment to the art/trade of orchids, succulents, cacti, and everything else flowering under the sun. As a tried-and-true fan of orchids myself [those who have visited my home know all too well my over-protective love of this particular posy–please don’t touch the f-ing orchid], I can attest to the beauty within these walls.

Hand over heart, there are some mind-blowing specimens here.

this is the best green house we've ever seen...

It’s a well-known and highly-respected enterprise in our city; people flock from all over to this perfectly situated 9th & 9th spot [showroom + greenhouse] to be dazzled in part by the greenery and in part by the help/smarts of Clint Lewis and Shelly Huynh. It kinda feels like home…we chatted about art, flowers [obviously], and architecture with a few casual f-bombs tossed in for good measure and a run-in or two with some common acquaintances. As evidenced by the photos below, it’s a damn fine place just to wander and be in awe, but I suggest going a step further and making a few of those plants part of your space. #lovewhereyoulive

business is blooming, it seems.

Orchid Dynasty does weddings, galas, and other events…upon my own inevitable demise, I hope they make my funeral look like a stunner. It’s a local joint that we have little trouble supporting: goodly people, running a local business and working to make SLC more beautiful by infusing their space [and yours] with some of nature’s flawless design.

"The firm's philosophy is respect. We respect the wisdom of the people that sit at the table with us. We respect the environment. If we design a house, we first go to the land to observe the direction of the wind, the heat of the sun, the soil, the angle of the plane. We pay our respects by antic...
