Love Where You Give

Those that count themselves COLLECTIVE website fans--or any who have read our COLLECTIVE Manifesto--can likely attest to our love for Salt Lake City. We feel lucky to call this square[ish]-shaped state home, and quite frankly, so should you. We have plenty to boast about; our creative culture is thriving, our architectural landscape growing, and we're full-blown overachievers in the fields of landscape and surroundings [see what we did there?]. But SLC has plenty of room for improvement, and it's going to take the hard work of more than a handful to make things right. Compassion and do-goodery were always a winning combination, so we've decided to add a little sweat. In the spirit of giving back to our community, we're launching the Love Where You Give campaign, a holiday donation drive that will benefit the women and children of the YWCA. Want in? Good. We need you.

The basic idea goes something like this: we picked a local charity in need, we’ve set up drop-off locations at local businesses [most of which are offering up coupons/incentives for you donators], then we pick up said donated items and deliver them to the local charity on December 17th. Our decision on which program to give to was not easy, but we've landed on a program that is doing wonders for some of our city's residents. The YWCA is locally funded, and on any given night, becomes home to up to 300+ women and children that have been victims of domestic violence. If not for the open doors of the YWCA, they would likely be homeless or forced to remain in a terrible situation at home. Obviously, we want to help. Current needs include clothing, new blankets, new twin sheets and towels, hygiene kits, coats, gloves, and scarves. In short, basic necessities that we sometimes take for granted. As part of our efforts, we'll also be collecting toys and art supplies specifically for children this holiday season. Donations of money may also be made via check written out to the YWCA Utah and dropped off at the CHC Headquarters. [A full list of items that are needed can be seen below.]

So, where to take your donated goods? SLC is brimming with some of our favorite local businesses, and 15 of them have jumped at the chance to be involved with the Love Where You Give campaign [most of which are offering an incentive for you all to give]. That's 15 different spots where you drop off donated items…and just as many where you'll be rewarded for it. Think allll the good spots: Zest, Green Ant, The Stockist, Mandate Press, Blooms & Co., Hip & Humble, Avenues Bistro, Vive Juicery, Mod a-go-go, Blue Plate Diner, Tutoring Toy, Rye Waffles & Whiskey, Even Stevens, Sweet Arleen's, and the Ft. Union Aflac branch. Click on the map below for the names, addressees, and the incentive offered when you make a donation to that particular spot. And for those that decide to drop off a donation at the COLLECTIVE Headquarters, come on in...we'll have a few of those rewards on hand. Help a much-needed cause and do some local shopping just prior to the holidays. Nothing wrong with that.

Black donation boxes are officially located at each of our drop-off locations as of now, and they'll stay put through December 15th. With 15 spots and nearly 30 days, you've got zero excuses. Donate to just one location, or make your way to every single one [and get every last reward]. Choice is yours. *Bonus: for anyone looking to buy or sell a home, we've got good news: if you partner up with COLLECTIVE agent, Monica Draper to buy or sell by the end of the year, she'll donate 5% of her commission to the YWCA in your name. Yup. Love Where You Give.

“We want to be a gritty and unyielding catalyst for change and positivity. Service, support and balls-deep social action are the preconditions to the fix. Our city’s imperfections are ours to repair, and there are buckets of sweat to be shed."
