As ladies and queens the world over can attest, running in heels ain't no joke--which is precisely why the Damn These Heels LGBT Film Festival's 14-year run is so very impressive. Yup, the DTH! festival is the longest-running LGBTQ film festival in the Mountain West, and it's quickly sashayed its way into our COLLECTIVE hearts. The yearly fest is a "week-long celebration of independent, documentary and foreign feature-length films from around the world that explore LGBT issues, ideas, and art," and each year we're equal parts impressed and moved by both the lineup and the outpouring of community support.
We've never been ones to turn down popcorn or a good party...
The only LGBT film festival in Utah, DTH is "a safe, supportive environment that empowers historically marginalized LGBT voices and facilitates discussions crucial to inspiring positive social change"--a cause that happens to be particularly near and dear to our hearts. Festivals past have debuted films such as Strike a Pose, Tangerine, and To Be Takei in SLC, and this year promises to hold more of the sensational same. Films such as Signature Move, Play the Devil, and God's Own Country, have particularly piqued our curiousity, but you can view the full fantastic lineup here.
We suggest you get your tickets now to an event that promises to be chock full of laughter, tears, and an overwhelming sense of pride for the global goods we've got right here at our salty fingertips. We picked a few films that we think might be a good start--take a look at the lineup and pick a few of your own. Support local. Support love. We'll see you there (bells optional).
