It's safe to say that we are COLLECTIVELY enamored with clean, intentional lines. The iconic curvature of an Eames chair, the unwavering edge of a Scandinavian light fixture, and, in the case of City Barbers, the succinct symmetry of a perfectly-executed undercut. The fine folks manning the chairs here are doling out cuts that are unequivocally so fresh, so clean. It only made sense then, when a couple of our own started to look a little rough around the edges, we headed over for a little shear-and-shaver work.
The spot itself, located smack-dab in the middle of downtown, is boasting an ambiance that is equal parts moto-punk and old-timey barber shop. From the restored cafe racers flanking the entrance to the vintage barber chairs lining the inside, the digs here are an indication to patrons--both new and returning--of the type of service they're in for: well-thought out, enjoyable, and with a result that is, aesthetically speaking, cool as hell.
craft. dedication. pride.
Each cut, complete with desired accoutrements, is a full hour in length, and designed to turn the chair into an oasis of sorts. Here, everyday stresses are replaced with the satisfying scrape of a perfectly-sharpened razor against the skin and the smell of carefully concocted shaving cream.
City Barbers isn't a hard one for us to get behind (and with an ever-growing Instagram following nearing 68k, it seems there are plenty who agree). A fine local business centered around making sure the folks of this city stay as sharp and spiffy as they are salty?
Shave away, say we.
