A temporal art gallery before the concept of “pop-up” became popularized, Art Adoption is in its tenth year of providing local artists with a platform to sell their “orphaned work”, pieces in need of a good, loving, home. For attendees, this means the opportunity to peruse and purchase a wide array of works from some of this city’s finest local talent. Plus, each artist prices their own wares and receives 95% of all the proceeds, allowing them enough dough to keep doing their undoubtedly-creative thing.
Art aside, the event is also fervently focused on philanthropy. Following suit with past years, Art Adoption is encouraging visitors to bring warm clothing and non-perishables with them to be given to the Volunteers of America Homeless Youth Resource Center. If you don't happen to have any spare coats or cans on hand, monetary donations will be accepted this year as well. Any donated-dollars will be forwarded to the Willy the Plumber Scholarship Fund, a non-profit invested in helping children whose parents are (or formerly were) incarcerated pay for higher education.
It's all art and altruism with this one, folks.
