Such Great (Federal) Heights

Our Opinion: The classics are referred to as such for a reason. Casablanca, “Sweet Home Alabama,” pastrami on rye–they just don’t get old. And so it is with the “Cape Cod-style space in Federal Heights”. Sure, you’ve seen it before, but it’s just so good every time, isn’t it? By now, you know that we’re COLLECTIVELY a bit partial to Federal Heights. It’s one of our favorite SLC neighborhoods for the simple reason that it hits every mark in just the right way. It’s tree-lined streets, just a dash up South Temple from Downtown. This particular home, which puts a clean, contemporary spin on the classic Cape Cod style, is perched at the top of said ‘hood. Its perfect position equates to smashing city/valley views, and sunsets the likes of which you’ll never tire. From the street, the home is sporting a smart and tidy exterior (with a landscaped front yard to match). The interior is a lesson in clean and classic city-meets-country vibes, and we’re particularly head over heels for A) that kitchen, B) the breakfast nook’s bay window, and C) the stellar brick fireplace in the front room, which you’ll find picks back up again in basement. The fantastic hardwood floors, which guide you from room to room, and the plethora of well-placed windows combine to give the space a cozy-yet-open feel. Upstairs, we’re smitten with the main suite’s pitched ceiling, generously-sized walk-in closet, walk-out balcony, and en suite bath (that tub and those windows will ensure you spend many-a soak here). Downstairs, you’ll find a cookery far too grand to be referred to as a “kitchenette,” as well as the tail end of the aforementioned, upstairs fireplace. There’s a large, grassy, and private outdoor space out back, as well as a patio seating area that’s perfectly placed for taking it all in (we mentioned those sunsets, right?). Like we said, the classics are “classic” for good reason, and this one’s nabbed our hearts in a hurry.
